Vampirella: Prelude to Shadows Review at Comics for Sinners

VampiPrelude-CovOver at the news site Comics for Sinners, you can read my review of Vampirella: Prelude to Shadows, a 48-page special now on sale from Dynamite Entertainment. Writer Nancy A. Collins (Sunglasses After Dark, Red Sonja) and artist Cristhian Crizam Zamora (Arthur: The Legend Continues) team up in this tale of Vampirella going undercover as a nun at a French convent, in order to stop the demonic Metifa, Satan’s Mistress, from offering her dark lord a new bride. As an added bonus, there’s a reprint of a classic Vampi story from her Warren Publishing days: “Lurker in the Deep” by legendary writer Archie Goodwin and gold-standard Vampi artist Jose Gonzalez! Head on over to C4S and check it out!

Heartstopper_CoverAnd if you’re a fan of monster-hunting femmes fatale like Vampirella, then you should download Heartstopper: The Legend of La Bella Tenebrosa, StarWarp Concepts’ free three-issue series about Sebastienne “Annie” Mazarin, a 400-year-old, shape-changing huntress who crosses paths with a rock-star incubus hungry for her soul. Originally published in 1995 during the height of comics’ notorious “bad girl era,” these free comics are written by Steven A. Roman (that’s me), and illustrated by Uriel Caton (JSA Annual), Holly Golightly (School Bites), and David C. Matthews (Satin Steele). (Annie, by the way, currently costars in the young adult novel series The Saga of Pandora Zwieback, acting as mentor to the teen monster hunter.)
