In case you missed it, yesterday was the 85th anniversary of the debut of the original, 1933 version of King Kong, the giant-monster movie that became a cultural icon for generations of both horror and non-horror fans around the world.
Last year, to celebrate the SWC e-publication of Delos Lovelace’s 1932 novelization of the original King Kong, we launched Simian Saturdays, a series of blog posts in which I reviewed a bunch of Kong-related movies, starting (naturally) with the original and working my way up to the latest version of his story, 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. The following links will take you to their respective reviews. Go give them a read!
King Kong (1933): Starring Fay Wray, Robert Armstrong, and Bruce Cabot
King Kong (1976): Starring Jessica Lange, Jeff Bridges, and Charles Grodin
King Kong (2005): Starring Naomi Watts, Adrian Brody, and Jack Black
Kong: Skull Island (2017): Starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Goodman
King Kong (the 1932 novelization) is available directly from the SWC webstore, so visit its product page for ordering information as well as two downloadable sample chapters.
